Dr. Michael Fujinaka grew up on a vegetable farm in Northern California. He studied Economics and Molecular Biology at Claremont McKenna College. He received his Medical Doctorate (M.D.) from the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Fujinaka trained in an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. He then Specialized in Anesthesiology at the University of California, San Diego. Finally, he completed Sub-Specialty training in Interventional Pain Management at Stanford University. Stanford's program is one of the top in the nation and has an acceptance rate of less than 1%. After completion, he was then double board certified in Interventional Pain Management and Anesthesiology. 


While at Stanford, the Faculty selected him to be Chief of his Fellowship class. As a Faculty member at Stanford, Dr. Fujinaka was involved in the training and teaching of the next generation of physicians: medical students, residents, and fellows. He also gave lectures for other physicians. Dr. Fujinaka served as full-time Faculty in the Division of Pain Medicine until he had the opportunity to build Apex Pain and Wellness. He now works full-time as an interventional pain physician at Balance Health, a multispecialty medical group. 


He enjoys Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, surfing, tennis, skiing, and traveling. He enjoys skating bowls and transition and his favorite park is the Sunnyvale skate park (where he is the most heavily padded and oldest skater). He is a proud small-business owner.
